Take time to deeply analyze this photo. Here is a normal Ethiopian kid in line trying to get a drink of water. You can seen the pain in his eyes. It may not be shown here, but behind him is a long chain of people waiting in line just to get even the smallest sip of water. Where we live, water is just something that gets thrown around a lot, something we bathe in swimming pools with, something we can find very easily. To these people, even the slightest sip of water, they have the feeling that they have struck gold. To us, water is just something we drink when we get thirsty. To them, water is a blessing they get every so often because they can’t afford to buy over the counter water bottles like we can. Now before you go on with your life, you see a water bottle next to you? Why not finish it and appreciate you have that water than just throwing it away later on? You’re lucky you even have it. I just found the photo so captivating. ~ reblog?

This is my friend Reza. (listen to this piece as you read the rest of this post)
He is a friend to all. An activist. A pianist. A loving person. A smartass. And so much more. But I promised him that when he came to America we would go to DC and we would get falafels and we’d have that falafel eating competition. And now, I don’t know if that’ll ever happen. Falafels aside, I need Reza to be okay.
The thing about tumblr is while it may just be a blogging platform. We are real people. We go through real things. We help everyone in need and I think that we have all become a family. Comforting one another in times of need.
I need you guys to really work with me. I need you guys to help me. Weather or not you know Reza. Because this is bigger than politics. This is bigger than protests. This is bigger than any government. This is a matter of being human. I don’t know what’s going to happen but Reza cannot go back to Iran. If you know his situation, he is being forced back into a country that has tortured him and executed numerous people from his family. Now they are forcing him to go back. Germany won’t let him leave. So I need us to come together and find a solution.
We don’t even have 24 hours. Message me or message him. Just reach out to us, please.
I hate to get emotional but I am in tears and I just need your help. Please, don’t let them take away my best friend.
